 Doc Nagobads was the doctor of the 1980 Olympic hockey team. He grew up in Latvia where his father placed a huge emphasis on education rather than sports. When he went to college he perused a career in medicine. He attended the University of Minnesota where he developed a very good relationship with the hockey team, which was coached by Herb Brooks. He became the team doctor for the Olympic hockey team because of his relationship with players and became instrumental in helping Herb and the 1980 team win the gold medal. He was very good at dealing with players and became an ambassador on the overseas trips for the team. He became the go to doctor for all hockey players after his work with the Olympic teams.
