Herb Brooks was mostly known for his 1980 Olympics appearance as the USA men’s hockey team’s head coach. Herb Brooks picked his team from a bunch of college kids playing hockey in the United States. Herb Brooks didn’t pick the best players he picked the players that he thought would work well with each other, and that is exactly what they did. He was one of few that had faith in those players, and that they could actually take the soviets who had one every Olympics since 1960. They beat the soviets in the semi finals and then went on to beat the Finland to win the Gold medal. Herb Brooks later coached France in 1998 and then in 2002 coached the USA to a silver medal.
